Agriculture Grade 6

Beginning Agriculture for Grade 6 is developed in line with the rationalised Curriculum Design for Agriculture. This Learner’s Book is organised logically to ensure that the learner readily acquires the specified skills and competencies while enjoying learning. The adopted simple-to-complex approach of presenting activities peaks the learner’s sense of curiosity which is important in inquiry-based learning.

This book has the following key sections:

• The Get started section at the beginning of every sub strand provides a well-thought-out introduction relatable to the learner’s day-to-day experiences. This prepares the learner for what he or she will learn.

• The Think and share section deliberately introduces the concept by engaging the learner in critical thinking.

• The learning activity is the core of each skill and concept. The simple-to-complex tasks enhance gradual inclusive learning. The learning experiences in each activity logically appeal to the three domains of learning while catering for different learning styles.

• The Learning corner section presented at the end of each learning concept offers a platform for the learners to confirm the findings collected during the exploratory learning activities.

• The Self-check corner section offers the learner a platform for self-assessment.

• The Extended activity section encourages the learner to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in hands-on tasks that enhance problem-solving in their immediate environment.

• The Review exercise section at the end of the sub strand provides adequate tasks to assess the learner’s understanding of the concepts learnt.
