Visionary KLB English Grade Five Learner's Book is based on the new Competency Based Curriculum. The activities are learner centred and allow the learners to discover and create knowledge through doing rather than memorizing facts. The language skills covered in the book are acquired through the involving activities that allow for maximum collaboration among the learners.
Adequate activities are provided for each strand and sub-strand that enable the learners acquire the required competences, and practise and master the required language skills, namely, listening and speaking, reading, grammar in use and writing. All the learning outcomes and learning experiences are covered using simple language that is intelligible to the Grade Five learners. The numerous activities are dexterously designed in a way that integrates all the pertinent and contemporary issues, and values making learning an all-round process. The learners are able to pace their own learning and even to learn from their peers in the course of carrying out the activities. The book also contains activities that are designed to offer sufficient parent/caregiver engagement ensuring learning takes place outside the classroom at home and within the community.
The language used is in consonance with the level of the learner and full colour illustrations are provided that not only provoke thought and talk but also enhance the interestingness of the content. Digital media accompaniment is provided to help concretize learning and enable the learners use multiple senses in the learning process for better learning outcomes. Relevant videos and audios are provided for selected activities and stored in a flash disc for easy access by the learners and teachers. This is one book that learners will find both enjoyable and enriching.
